MISSION AND HISTORY
Pat and Hank Haskell, residents of Hilton Head Island since
1988, founded South Carolina Repertory Company (SCRC)
in 1992. Their mission was, and continues to be, to provide
Hilton Head Island with quality theatre at a reasonable price
in an intimate space. Since its inception, SCRC has produced
almost 100 shows. Though no stranger to the classics, SCRC
prides itself in presenting material completely new to the
Lowcountry, whether it be Pulitzer Prize winners straight from
New York, or other contemporary work found in playwriting
and musical theatre festivals across the United States and
Canada. We not only want to entertain our audience, but we
also ask them to engage and think, something that is not often
required in this age of digital diversion.
INFORMATION AND AFFILIATIONS
SCRC is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profi t theatre and a
member of Theatre Communications Group (TCG), whose
mission is to strengthen, nurture and promote the professional
not-for-profi t American theatre. SCRC is also affi liated with
the South Carolina Arts Commission, the Arts Council of
Beaufort County, and the Hilton Head/Bluffton Chamber of
Commerce. SCRC works under a Special Appearance Level II
Contract with Actors Equity.
